Shania Twain posted an image on Instagram recently that had fans doing a double take. Despite being 58 years old, the singer looked decades younger in the image. Many people who were once familiar with her failed to recognize Twain.
The country star’s makeover consisted of bright pink hair and a dazzling smile, but many fans suspect that she’s had one too many cosmetic surgery procedures, resulting in a dramatically different look. One user said it was a shame that Twain “couldn’t accept aging gracefully,” while another called her “unrecognizable.” Someone even compared her to Michael Jackson, referring to changes around her nose and mouth. Although the haters had some less-than-kind words to say, people still flooded her page with support and sweet comments, praising her for how impressive she looked at nearly 60 years old.
One called her “gorgeous,” while another complimented Twain for “living your best life. A third commenter called her an “icon,” which is hard to deny given her musical track record and her style that has inspired countless people over the years. The country star’s style may have changed over the years, but no matter what look she goes with, she remains as charming and striking as ever.
It’s not unusual for stars to alter their appearance as they get older—after being continuously under the spotlight for so many years, their lives are put under a microscope. They’re not allowed to age in the same way that normal people do, and Twain has opened up about experimenting with different looks.
Hair is a part of expressing yourself, just like fashion is, and Twain has always been a fan of playing around with her appearance.
The “That Don’t Impress Me Much” singer spoke to Extra, saying that pink hair made her feel younger and look younger as well as giving her more confidence. She knew that going gray would be inevitable and decided to experiment with different hues before she got to that point. She also told E! News in a 2023 interview, “As I go gray, I’m like, ‘I might as well toy around with different colors.’
Twain has always experimented with her hair color, so why should she stop now that she’s getting older? In her interview with Extra, she added, “I’m not afraid of aging. Worrying and fearing about aging is a waste of my energy.
Anyway, when you’ve earned five GRAMMYs, you should be able to do whatever you want!
At nearly 60, Twain is embarking on her second act; the Canadian superstar recently announced her return to the Calgary Stampede in July 2025.
We encourage others to take the same creative, boundary-pushing attitude toward aging.
