“Love Hurts” singer Lizzo is known for her gorgeous curves, but now she’s breaking the internet for a different reason—her weight loss transformation during a touring hiatus. The 36-year-old celebrity has been putting in the work at the gym, and it’s been paying off. She revealed a slimmed-down version of herself on TikTok with the caption, “Fine both ways .”
After five months of a calorie deficit and weight training, the result has paid off, and she’s shed the pounds. Some people accuse Lizzo of allegedly being on Ozempic which is trending within the world of A-listers, but she denies it and says that the results are all due to her hard work.
She even mocked the allegations fans accused her of on a social media post, captioning it, “’oZeMpIc oR cOkE?’ – a fan.”
Documenting her fitness journey, she shared a before-and-after on the social media platform. In the before clip, she wore black underwear by the shapewear brand Yitty, and in the after, she rocked a bodysuit from the same brand. The video was paired to a Nicki Minaj audio clip saying, “The fact that you would even discuss my looks is insane.”
In a second video, she showed a new version of herself that had shed even more weight in a gray bodysuit. These posts come a month after Lizzo shared her fitness routine with her fans. On Instagram, she filmed herself doing arm workouts on a lat pulldown and completing strength movements with resistance cables while kneeling on the ground.
In the video of herself at the gym, she wrote the caption, “If you’re reading this… remember you can do ANYTHING you put ur mind to! Stay focused, you got this .” The videos earned hundreds of thousands of likes, and fans were in her comments showing support.
In 2023, Lizzo discussed her commitment to working out. She explained that she works out to stay in shape for her live shows, which demand lots of energy, and claimed that she doesn’t hit the gym for appearances or to “escape fatness.”
The celebrity added that her “high-performance job” requires 90 minutes of choreography, dancing, rapping, playing the flute, and singing nightly. At the same time, she has to get her crowd of fans hyped up while wearing “very tight clothes” that sometimes restrict her breathing. She mentioned that while the job is demanding, she loves what she does and wants the physical endurance to keep up with her career.
Some people say that Lizzo is faking the body positivity she once preached, but the majority of people are praising the performer for attempting to live a healthier lifestyle and get a stronger body without plastic surgery.
Although she’s always been a body-positive role model, things haven’t always been sunshine and daisies for the singer. Speaking to the New York Times early in 2024, she got honest with the paper, saying, “I’m not going to lie and say I love my body every day. The bottom line is, the way you feel about your body changes every single day.”
