Apple is rolling out iOS 18.2 this week, bringing a major upgrade in Apple Intelligence that promises to enhance the user experience.
Apple Intelligence, first introduced at the company’s World Wide Developer Conference in June, combines generative AI with personalized context to offer smarter, more relevant features for iPhone, iPad, and Mac users. The first wave of these capabilities launched in October, and now iOS 18.2 will expand on them with even more exciting additions.
The update, which will be available for devices compatible with iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, introduces several new features. These include Genmoji, Image Playground, ChatGPT integration, and more.
Apple released the beta version of iOS 18.2 last week, and the update is expected to be available to the public on Tuesday, Dec. 10, or Wednesday, Dec. 11, according to MacRumors.
New Features in iOS 18.2:
Genmoji
One of the standout features in iOS 18.2 is Genmoji, which allows users to create personalized emojis using Apple’s AI. Whether you’re looking for a specific emoji or want one that resembles yourself or your loved ones, Genmoji can generate it for you based on your description. It’s a fun, creative way to personalize your messages.
Image Playground
The new Image Playground app lets users generate images quickly and easily. This feature is great for creating visuals for emails, presentations, and more. You can describe the image you want, choose from suggested options, or even generate fun images like cartoon versions of yourself. Users can also select the style of the image, such as animation or illustration.
Image Wand For those who like to sketch in the Notes app, the Image Wand tool will be a game-changer. This feature allows you to circle your rough sketches, and AI will transform them into polished, refined artwork. It’s a handy tool for anyone who enjoys drawing or creating visuals on the go.
ChatGPT Integration
iOS 18.2 now integrates ChatGPT with Siri and Apple’s Writing Tools. If you don’t like the answer Siri gives you, ChatGPT will step in to provide an alternative. ChatGPT can also assist in refining text written using Apple’s AI Writing Tools, making it even easier to improve your content.
Visual Intelligence
For iPhone 16 and later models, Visual Intelligence is a new feature that uses the camera to identify objects in your surroundings. Whether you’re looking at a plant, walking past a restaurant, or admiring someone’s outfit, Visual Intelligence can provide detailed information about what you see.
Priority Notifications iOS 18.2 introduces Priority Notifications, which will help busy users manage their alerts more effectively. Important notifications, like those for flights or meetings, will be prioritized and appear at the top of your list, ensuring you never miss them.
This update marks a significant leap forward in Apple Intelligence, bringing even more convenience and innovation to users with iOS 18.2.
